Aloe
From skincare to juice cleanses, you’ve most likely heard of aloe vera leaf. This cactus-like plant loves hot, dry climates and long walks on the beach. Each spiked leaf stores water that creates a “gel” that can be used topically and orally. The use cases for this slimy substance are endless and have been used for thousands of years as a natural home remedy.
- Using a sharp knife, cut along the leaf edge to remove the outer leaf.
- Squeeze the gel out and apply topically to skin.
- Crush or grind only purified or decolorized aloe for oral use in desserts, yogurts, and beverages.
Aloe Vera is always best when used fresh. The whole leaf can be stored in the refrigerator and a small portion is cut only when it needs to be used.
